Did You Know That:

  • 70% of high school graduates will attend a 4-year college, but less than 2/3 of them will graduate with a degree; and that 57% of students enrolled in college are not done after 6 years
  • 30% of college freshmen drop out after their first year
  • 33% of all college students transfer at least one time during their college career and that many college credits do not transfer from one school to another
  • Over 50% of college students change majors at least once during their college career and that means some of their classes don’t count towards their new major and/or they have to go more than 4 years to finish

High School and College can be very exciting times for you and your child. They can also be some of the hardest times, filled with anguish and frustrations for you and your child, especially if your child is struggling to figure out what s/he should major in?

How many times have we asked our children, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” If your child is like most, s/he doesn’t know for sure and probably doesn’t know what strengths and talents it takes be successful in that career. And in reality, at their age, did you know what you wanted to be when you grew up? Are you doing that now or did you stumble upon the work you’re doing now? Are you happy and fulfilled in your work?

I’m not asking you these questions to frustrate you, although if you’re like most adults, you’re probably a bit of that. My point is this…what if you could give your child the gift of figuring out what their natural strengths and talents are right now, while they are in the exact right position to start down the right path for them!

I am a firm believer in Albert Einstein’s quote:

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.”

My Claim Your Genius! Workshop uses the Inner Heroes temperament model to help your child discover what his/her strengths and talents are. By identifying those, talking to other students who identify the same strengths and talents and learning what to focus on, your child will gain self-confidence and the vocabulary to work with you and others around them trying to guide them in their decisions to make the best decisions for your child based on those strengths and talents.  The training is only $50 - isn't your child's future worth that?!

Let me help you help your child Claim Their Genius!

Here's What They're Saying About Claim Your Genius!

My son (a high school junior) was reluctant to take the class because he didn’t think anything that I suggested would be helpful or worthwhile. But after taking the course, he has been able to explain what he wants to study in college and even what kind of school he thinks he would be most successful at. He and I have productive conversations and he’s eager to talk with others about it as well.  He doesn’t feel helpless or confused as he did before. He is now more focused – and appropriately concerned about all the things he needs to do to get into college

My daughter took this workshop as a high school senior while she was obtaining her associate’s degree in high school. At the time, she was pursuing a major in Mechanical Engineering. She was encouraged to go into engineering because she always excelled at math and was told that Mechanical Engineering aligned with her skillset.  Unfortunately, as she took the courses necessary to prepare her that major, she found she enjoyed school less. As her mother, I realized that while she could pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering, she would not live her best life while doing so. I want her to be successful in her career, but I also want her to be happy in her life.  Claim Your Genius! gave her the confidence to look at what she enjoys, so that she could change her mind and her major.  It also helped her put words to what had been an internal rub for her in that just because she was good at math didn’t mean she loved it. She starts this fall at UCF, majoring in Forensic Psychology and while she may change her major again, she knows what gives her energy, motivates her at her core, and will allow her to follow her dreams. I am grateful she had this opportunity as such an impressionable age and feel it will benefit her greatly in her life. I recommend this workshop to all high school juniors and seniors as a way to find a subject or trade to study that they both enjoy and feel energized while doing.  Confucius once said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

I took the class as a junior in college.  It’s taken me several years to get here as I changed my major and school three times.  Boy do I wish I had this class when I was a junior in high school!  The class helped me realize how I operate and that I’m cut out for certain things and not for others and I now have my plan for me – not someone else’s plan for me.  It validated some things I think I knew about myself but didn’t have a way to express them – which I can now do.  I’m no longer stressed about what didn’t feel right.  I’m still stressed about school, but it's work and time stress...not what am I doing here stress!
